## Description

TinEye can help users locate the original source of an image, locate related images and locate other places where the image may be found on the internet, including whether the image is a stock photo. Users may use TinEye to verify images or track where images appear online. This [tutorial](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dKQZEXdyVjk) from the University of Glasgow Library provides an overview of how to perform a basic reverse image search with the tool.

A user can go directly to the TinEye website to use the tool. A user may also add the TinEye [extensions ](https://tineye.com/extensions)to browsers.

TinEye is [free](https://help.tineye.com/article/239-is-tineye-free-to-use) for non-commercial use. It does offer a [paid](https://services.tineye.com/TinEyeAlerts) service that allows a subscriber to track where and how their images appear online. The first month is 420 USD and each additional month after is 310 USD. TinEye also limits searches to 100 per day and 300 per week.

## Limitations

According to its [FAQ](https://services.tineye.com/TinEyeAPI), TinEye works best with images that are as low as 100 pixels in either dimension and works best with images that are at least 300 pixels in either dimension. It also has a limit of 20 MB as the maximum file size. TinEye also recommends avoiding watermarks. TinEye may also be unable to search for images from certain sites such as Instagram.
